1 policeman killed, suspect search ends in Olde City Arvada shootout – CBS Denver

ARVADA, Colorado (CBS4)– Police are investigating a shooting in Olde Town Arvada in which an officer was killed. Police said they have a suspect related to the shooting.

Officers rushed to the 57th and Olde Wadsworth area just before 2 p.m. Monday.

Arvada police say one of their officers was killed in a confrontation with a suspect in Arvada old town. This officer has not been identified.

The police are searching a vehicle in the area for possible explosives.

Witnesses told CBS4’s Conor McCue they heard gunfire and took cover in a restaurant.

The police called on the population to stay away from the area during the investigation. The Arvada Chamber of Commerce said they had been hiding in the basement of their office for about an hour after being shot. Their offices are near the location where the shooting took place.

Police said they are not looking for any more suspects.

After a brief closure during the investigation, the train station in the old town of Arvada has reopened.

There are several law enforcement agencies in place, including the Arvada Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies, Edgewater Police Department, and the Arvada Fire Department.
