With new COVID-19 restrictions going into effect in the subway, there are still plenty of festive and socially distant outdoor activities planned to get you in the holiday mood.
Christmas lights are the predominant theme in Denver this weekend as a variety of displays and holiday markets are set to go live this weekend. Many of the light displays and holiday activities are meant to last throughout the holiday season.

Denver Events on Friday November 20th
Flowers of light
When: November 20th to January 16th
Where: Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St., Denver
These extravagant annual Christmas lights transform York Street in the Denver Botanic Gardens into a sparkling winter wonderland.

Where: Denver Union Station, downtown Denver
Downtown Denver’s top attractions light up during the Grand Illumination for the holiday season. Hundreds of thousands of lights illuminate Denver Union Station, the City and County Building, 16th Street Mall, Skyline Park, D&F Clock Tower, 14th Street, Larimer Square, Mile High Tree, and more.
Mile high tree
When: November 20th to January 2nd
Where: 16th & Welton, Denver
Start the holiday season with a visit to the Mile High Tree in downtown Denver. Enter the 30 meter high immersive art installation with brilliant lights and festive music. Read more about the Mile High Tree.
Denver Christmas Market
When: November 20th – December 23rd
Where: Civic Center Park, 101 W. 14th Ave., Denver
Costs: Free admission

Denver Events on Saturday November 21st
Castle Rock Starlighting
When: 21st November
Where: Downtown Castle Rock
The Castle Rock Star lighting is an annual tradition, although this year’s event will be different. The city is planning fireworks on the rock and inviting small group get-togethers instead of the traditional Castle Rock Festival downtown.
Melissa Villaseñor at Comedy Works
When: November 20-21
Where: Comedy Works South at Landmark, 5345 Landmark Pl, Greenwood Village
Costs: $ 26
Melissa Villaseñor broke barriers when she became the first Latina cast member on Saturday Night Live. As an expert on comedic impressions, she started as a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent.
Miracle Bar: Christmas pop-up bars
When: Until December 31st
Where: Three locations in Denver
Visit Miracle in Larmier Square, Miracle in Avanti Wolf Bar and Sippin ‘Santa in Arvada Tavern for a selection of fun and festive drinks or use Miracle at Home and order a Christmapolitan, Jolly Koala, Snowball Old Fashioned or Jingle Ball Nog.
The Polar Express travels by train
