CITY, Colo. (CBS4) – Seven people were injured in an explosion at the Pueblo steel mill on Saturday evening. Pueblo firefighters rushed to the Evraz Rocky Mountain steel mill site on South Fwy Road at around 5:15 p.m.
Factory officials say CBS4 water was somehow “introduced” into an electric arc furnace, causing a “mild explosion”. The seven victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to Parkview Medical Center.
Further details about the victims or the situation have not been released.
The facility is down as the investigation continues, but officials say it is safe.
