(CBS4) – The Denver Broncos picked Ohio State Pass rusher Jonathon Cooper with their second pick in the seventh round, # 239 overall on Saturday afternoon. The moment was the culmination of a dream for Cooper, but also a celebration for his neighborhood. Ohio State University’s soccer Instagram account showed the reaction to Cooper being drawn with a video by children on Cooper’s pad to congratulate him.
In the video, Cooper is seen walking out of the house and then greeting a group of children who have come to give him high fives and hugs after hearing the news. The video published on Sunday was viewed over 139,000 times on Monday afternoon.
In his five-year career in the US state of Ohio, Cooper collected a total of 77 tackles, 15 losses and 10 sacks as a rotating piece of the Buckeyes defense line. He was the team captain of the Buckeyes teams in 2019 and 2020. During his time at OSU, Cooper participated in various charitable events, including facilitating sporting activities for local youth.
It’s clear he has neighborhood kids looking up to him, and now they can watch him make his way to an NFL squad here in Denver.
