Charlie Blackmon dishes out on Denver meals, enjoyable

With the 2021 MLB All-Star Game coming to Denver and Coors Field, Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (and four-time All-Star) thinks there are some good things in Mile High City.

Some food and fun tips in Denver during the 2021 MLB All-Star Game from Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon.

Blackmon made his debut for the Rockies on June 7, 2011 and played only for Colorado during his formidable Major League career. He spent a lot of time in Denver. While fishing and outdoor activities are always high on his list in Colorado (when he actually has the time), if he has a day to show Denver, Blackmon recommends getting out of town and visiting City of Golden.

Known as the home of Coors Brewery (and yes, Coors Field’s namesake), one might think the connection influenced Blackmon’s decision to list Golden. However, he is more into the city because of his outdoor influences.

“Personally, I really like the mountains, so I think it might be really fun to visit Golden, which is right up in the mountains,” said Blackmon of Golden, which is about 15 miles west of Coors Field. “You might even walk along the river there.”

That would be the Clear Creek Trail, which you can learn more about here.

Would you like to stay more in Denver itself? Blackmon gave the 16th Street Mall (walking distance from Coors Field) a thumbs up, which he called “pretty cool”. Near the LoDo (Lower Downtown) neighborhood, where Coors Field is located, is the Cherry Creek Trail, which leads to Confluence Park, a place Blackmon describes as “pretty great.”

When you’re ready to eat, Blackmon says it’s a good idea to stand out from the crowd.

“I would definitely go to a rooftop bar or restaurant and buy pizza or something like that in LoDo,” Blackmon said. “Maybe check out McGregor Square, which is brand new (and right next to Coors Field).”
