Colorado Avalanche chooses Taylor Makar with remaining choose in NHL Entry Draft 2021 – CBS Denver
DENVER (CBS4) – On the same day, the Colorado Avalanche Cale Makar signed a six-year contract, they also designed Cale’s younger brother Taylor. The Avalanche used their last election in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft to pick the younger Makar. Taylor, like his older brother, will join UMass for further development.

“He has come a long way. Every year he gets better and better. He has a lot of time to develop and we are very happy to have him. He’s a competitive guy and a taller 6’3 “guy. We have high hopes for him as he develops,” said Joe Sakic of the younger Makar.
Taylor Makar spent the 2020-21 campaign with the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He recorded 19 points in 16 games and served as part of the team’s leadership group.
While meeting with the media to discuss his contract, Cale was asked about his brother’s potential for draft.

“I watched the draft all day. I am more nervous than at the moment. It would be great to see him go, ”said Cale. “For him as a player, he’s a very hard working kid. He definitely has a bright future and he’s already bigger than me. “
