Wise was selected to lead the district’s 63,000 students and 8,300 employees. He was selected from a group of more than 100 potential candidates.

“The selection of the superintendent is one of the most important decisions a board will ever make,” said David Ray, president of the DCSD board, in a statement. “It was a privilege to meet so many highly qualified people who saw the cherished opportunity to run an incredible district like DCSD. The Board of Directors looks forward to continuing to work with Mr. Wise to make our district an even bigger place for all of our students. ”

Wise began his educator journey at DCSD and is in his 25 year apprenticeship year. Wise began as a trainee teacher, became a social science teacher at Ponderosa High School, taught at Chaparral High School, and later served as Chaparral’s assistant principal. Wise was hired as the founding director of Legend High School in 2007, where he served for 7 years before joining the DCSD administration. He served as principal of high schools and then executive director of schools for the East Highlands Ranch and Alternative Education area prior to being named interim superintendent for DCSD.
