Denver Public Colleges: Training Committee prepares to vote on transition to political governance
October 22, 2021
The Denver Board of Education has been preparing to move to a policy governance model over the past few months.
This model, recommended by the Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB), will establish clear roles, responsibilities, and relationships between the board and the superintendent. The Board is developing guidelines for four established categories and will vote on the specific guidelines under consideration at its meetings on October 21st and November 18th.
Community members can still interact with the board of directors as usual – this does not interfere with policy governance. Public comments and direct communication with board members are still the best way to provide feedback on the board’s vision for DPS.
