Denver’s bloody July shootings stabbings replace

Eight people were shot and one died in four separate incidents in downtown Denver over eight days through July 19. But the bloodshed was hardly confined to a single part of Mile High City. The Denver police responded to at least nineteen gunshots or knife wounds in the first twenty days of the month, including one that occurred around 3 a.m. today, July 20.

The overview speaks volumes about how violent the month was – and it’s eleven days left.

Here are the nineteen incidents as posted on DPD’s Twitter account and in Metro Denver Crime Stoppers’ alerts, in reverse chronological order by timestamp; some have previously received little or no media coverage.

19. Pecos Street and West 47th Avenue
3:26 am on July 20th

“# DPD officers on site at Pecos St W 47th Avenue in a shooting. The adult man was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers, 720.913.STOP (7867).”

18th 2000 block of Market Street
3:55 p.m. July 19 (Metro Denver Crime Stoppers Alarm)

“The Denver Police Department needs your help investigating a murder. At 2:46 am on July 18, 2021, Denver police responded to a shooting in the parking lot on the 2000 block of Market Street. Two victims were injured.” and one victim was pronounced dead as a result of the gunfire. “

17. 680 North Sheridan Boulevard
1:51 p.m. July 19 (Metro Denver Crime Stoppers Warning)

“The Denver Police Department needs your help to identify a suspect who is wanted in the shots fired on 680 North Sheridan Boulevard at around 3:15 pm on July 3, 2021. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 30 and 40 with a goatee and faded hairstyle at the time of filming. The vehicle that goes with it is a white Chevrolet Silverado with gold rims (see photo below). “

12.40 p.m. July 16

“# DPD officers on site on E Colfax Ave / N Spruce St. stabbed with a knife. An adult man was stabbed and taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. An adult woman was taken into custody in the incident.”

12.20 p.m. July 16

“# DPD officers on site in the 900 block of 16th Street in a shooting. Two women and a man were shot and taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries …. UPDATE 1/2: This incident occurred around 11 am: 45:00 last night and appears to be an altercation. It was originally reported that 3 people were shot. We have since learned that two people were shot – a teenage woman and a teenage man. UPDATE 2/2: The third person involved , adult male, was not shot, but sustained an injury from the confrontation. This incident occurred in the area of ​​the 16th and Champa. “

8. 1st Avenue and Broadway
02:36 p.m. July 10

“WARNING: Officers are near 1st Avenue and Broadway investigating a knife stab. The victim’s condition is unknown at the moment …. UPDATE: The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.”

7th block 1600 on South Acoma Street
5:29 p.m. July 9

“WARNING: Officers are at 1600 BLK S Acoma St trying to contact an alleged perpetrator. Alternative routes are recommended. Updates will be released as information becomes available … earlier in the day. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.”

6. 600 block on Wolffstrasse
1:50 a.m. July 5th

“WARNING: # Denver officials are investigating a shootout on the 600 block on Wolff Street. An adult man was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests at this time.”

12:07 p.m. July 5th

“WARNING: # Denver officials are investigating a shooting in the 5000 block of Milwaukee. Two victims were identified in this incident. A grown man was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The second victim, a young man, was transported in a private vehicle. … UPDATE: In the course of the investigation, it was found that only the adult victim suffered a gunshot wound. The injuries are not life-threatening. The youth was not seriously injured. The investigation is ongoing. “

“WARNING: # Denver officials are investigating a knife wipe in Colfax and Uinta. A man is transported to the hospital with an unknown degree of injury.”
