DENVER (CBS4) – Governor Jared Polis says Colorado will continue to pay an additional $ 300 a week in federal pandemic unemployment benefits despite some lawmakers moving to end the practice.
The three Republican members of the Colorado Congressional Delegation – Rep. Lauren Boebert (3rd Congressional District), Ken Buck (4th Congressional District), and Doug Lamborn (5th Congressional District) – sent a letter last week asking them to stop payments to help the people to encourage them to take jobs.
Polis says sending the federal dollars back would be a bad idea. The governor’s office says this would draw anywhere from $ 600 million to $ 800 million out of the state.
