MESA COUNTY, Colorado (CBS4) – Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubenstein and Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser will initiate a grand jury investigation into Mesa County electoral fraud and claims manipulation.
State officials investigated after passwords for the Mesa County’s electoral system were posted online. The statement released by the DA office doesn’t specifically name them, but Tina Peters and others allegedly took steps to back up their claims that the 2020 election results were falsified and that the voting machines operated by Denver-based Dominion Voting were somehow flawed .
“In the past few months we have made progress in the cross-agency investigation into allegations of tampering with voting machines in Mesa County and official misconduct,” officials said in a joint statement Thursday. “The Mesa County Grand Jury accepted the case on January 12th and will assist the investigation.”
Peters, her deputy Belinda Knisley and former campaign manager for MPs Lauren Boebert Sherronna Bishop could face indictments as part of the investigation.
