Another musician joins Colorado’s marijuana industry – as if his voice wasn’t Weezy enough already.
GKUA Ultra, a marijuana flower and vaping oil product brand co-founded by Lil Wayne, has just launched in the country’s oldest recreational pots market. Weezy-approved weed is now available in pharmacies across the state.
As is common with well-known weed brands, the GKUA works with cultivators and extraction companies in legalized states for production. In Colorado, the company selected Harmony Extracts – a well-known marijuana retail name – to make GKUA branded flower and vaping products. Musicians like Nathaniel Rateliff, Snoop Dogg, NORE, Rebelution, and Wiz Khalifa have similarly teamed up with the Colorado pot companies.
This latest celebrity weed launch marks the New Orleans rapper’s return to the Denver pot scene: in 2018, Lil Wayne performed at the annual 4/20 festival in Denver at Civic Center Park, a decade-long tradition of free musical performances and more more smoking weed.
“GKUA is about inspiring people; it’s about a feeling. Now Colorado will experience the quality and effectiveness of that GKUA,” Lil Wayne said in a statement announcing the brand’s entry into the Colorado market.
GKUA was founded in California in 2019 and then expanded to Michigan and now Colorado. To celebrate the launch in Colorado, rapper and Young Money Entertainment star Lil Twist will host a livestream on Instagram at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26th, featuring a cannabis breeder, lab manager and various pharmacy representatives, including the Harmony team, interviewed.
“We are excited to be working with Lil Wayne and the entire GKUA team to bring these rare, world-class products to market that are designed to inspire people and encourage creativity,” said Jeremy Johnson, laboratory manager at Harmony.
According to the company, GKUA products can currently be found in 32 Colorado pharmacies. Most stores are in the Denver area. However, there are also outposts in southern and western Colorado that offer them. Use the Weezy Weed Finder on the website to see if a store near you sells GKUA.
