Main Colorado retailers in want of masks: See the itemizing

COLORADO – As coronavirus cases and hospitalizations increase in the United States, many retailers in Colorado and other states are re-enforcing mask requirements to help contain the spread of the coronavirus.

New mask requirements come as the highly contagious Delta variant continues to spread across the country. The Indian variant accounts for more than 93 percent of all new cases in the United States on Wednesday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Many retailers attribute revised mandates to the CDC’s new Mask Policy, which recommends all vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals wear masks in indoor public spaces or in areas of “significant” or “high” transmission. However, most are reluctant to require fully vaccinated customers to wear face covers.

The CDC defines “significant” transmission as 50 to 99.99 cases per 100,000 people over seven days, while “high” transmission is defined as more than 100 cases per 100,000 during this period:

Here’s a look at what Colorado retailers are in need of masks right now and who should wear them, according to a list compiled by AARP and various news outlets:

Apple
Who has to mask himself:
Citing a company communication to employees, Bloomberg reported that Apple has reintroduced mask requirements for buyers and employees in most of its US retail stores.

AT&T
Who has to mask himself:
Employees, customers and visitors must wear masks regardless of their vaccination status.

Bed bath in addition
Who has to mask himself:
A mask mandate remains in place for buyers and employees, with the exception of fully vaccinated customers “at US locations where this is permitted by local ordinance or law”.

CVS
Who has to mask himself:
Face covers are required for employees and customers who are not fully vaccinated and optional for those who are.

Home depot
Who has to mask himself:
The retailer has issued a mask requirement for “all employees, contractors and salespeople” in its US branches. All customers are asked to wear masks.

Kohls
Who has to mask himself:
Kohl’s requires all employees in counties with a significant or high risk of transmission to wear masks while charging. The company has also encouraged customers in these areas to wear masks.

King Soopers
Who has to mask himself:
Masks are “highly recommended” for fully vaccinated customers and employees. A mask is required for unvaccinated customers and employees in stationary clinics and pharmacies.

Lowes
Who has to mask himself:
Lowe employees are required to wear masks at all locations. In the meantime, customers are encouraged to wear masks as well.

MC Donalds
Who has to mask himself:
McDonald’s has mandated that all customers and employees at locations in areas with high or significant COVID-19 transmission rates wear masks.

Nordstrom
Who has to mask himself:
The retailer needs face masks where prescribed and for those who are not vaccinated.

Starbucks
Who has to mask himself:
Starbucks recommends that customers wear face-covering regardless of vaccination status. Masks are required when required by local law or regulation. As of August 5th, all store partners must wear face covers.

target
Who has to mask himself:
Target requires face coverings for all team members and strongly recommends face coverings for all customers in areas with significant or high risk of transmission.

TJX company
Who has to mask himself:
The parent company of TJMaxx, Marshalls, Sierra, and HomeGoods requires all employees and unvaccinated customers to wear face coverings, which remain optional for fully vaccinated customers.

Verizon
Who has to mask himself:
The company says masks “may be required” at Verizon locations and that its branches adhere to “CDC policies and legal requirements.”

Walgreens
Who has to mask himself:
Employees regardless of vaccination status must mask themselves. Customers and employees who are not vaccinated are asked to continue to wear masks.

Walmart
Who has to mask himself:
All employees must wear face covering regardless of vaccination status. Masks are recommended for fully vaccinated customers and required for unvaccinated customers.
