Fans of WeldWerks Brewing Co. will appreciate more when the beer maker expands in two ways: first, with a restaurant in the Greeley Brewery, and second, with the opening of a new taproom in Colorado Springs.
Both projects are currently ongoing, according to Jake Goodman, director of experience for the brewery. In fact, one has been in the works for some time.
WeldWerks broke ground in September 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in delays in obtaining building permits, according to a statement. Adverse weather conditions also brought the construction to a standstill.
The 1,300-square-foot taproom plus outdoor beer garden, located on the former The Dive Diner (3043 W. Pikes Peak Ave.), is now slated to open in mid-2022, Goodman said. If so, there will be more than 20 house beer taps and a treehouse-like terrace on the second floor, he said.
Until then, drinkers who visit the Greeley location can dine on site. WeldWerks has teamed up with Chef Tim Meador, co-owner of the Tramp About food truck, to open a restaurant called The Annex, which serves up seasonally-inspired small dishes. Goodman said some of the inspiration came from customers who often ask where to find food in the WeldWerks brewery.
The extension is expected to open at the end of 2021. The expansion includes the creation of a lounge area that could be used for private parties and beer pairing dinners.
“We’re a little further away,” he said, “so all we can do to improve the experience of people who are kind enough to take the time to come all the way here, we want. “
