One of many first pizza machines within the nation rolls out muffins in Denver – The Burlington Document

The first machine to dispense holy water to the patrons of a temple appeared in Egypt. The concept later became England’s popular way of selling cigarettes and snuff.

These days there are vending machines everywhere selling a variety of goods. From soda and snacks and candy to cannabis and even Kylie Kardashian makeup, now is the time for faster and less contact.

What if you could get a hot Italian-style pizza from one of these handy machines in just about 3 minutes? It’s happening right here in Denver, right now. And we are among the first cities in the country to have one.

In 2016, Deglin Kenealy, CEO of Basil Street Pizza, began developing an Automated Pizza Kitchen (APK) in California with consistency and quality cakes in mind. It wasn’t until his daughter went to college that business got personal.

“I saw this as a huge market. Where can you get a higher quality product at a better price in a much faster time frame, right? ”Said Kenealy.

The company has just a. earned Certification from the National Sanitation Foundationwhich allows APKs in more locations across the country, including university campuses, airports, and other public spaces, Kenealy said.

“I think we’re the only company to ever get NSF and UL certification for a frozen to fully cooked facility, (all in one), you know, unmanned facility,” he said.

Although Kenealy plans to include Basil Street Pizza on college campuses in the future, there is currently no plan for an APK at CU-Boulder or other front range colleges. But he’s hopeful. (“Wipe out your student ID so mom and dad still pay for it,” he said.)

The automated kitchen at Basil Street Pizza in Denver is one of 50 pizza machines to launch in the United States this year. (The company tested the machines in California and Texas in 2020.) The APKs serve 10-inch thin-crust pizzas, completely microwave-free.

“We don’t want to stop you from going to your favorite pizza,” said Kenealy, “but if you really want a delicious pizza in a short amount of time, we feel we hit the nail on the head with it. “

With its many changing flavors – including classics like cheese, pepperoni and supreme – these futuristic machines are redefining take-away, the company claims. Basil Street Pizza’s patented oven technology makes frozen cakes hot and fresh from the oven, and the first and only person to touch it is you.

Basil Street pizzas are made with locally sourced ingredients such as a four-cheese mix of mozzarella, parmesan, Asiago and Romano; shrub-ripened tomatoes; and extra virgin olive oil. Each order comes with a box that can be quickly folded and then transported, along with a plastic pizza cutting wheel.

(I wish there was an APK when I was a student. A bite of the Buffalo Chicken Pizza on Basil Street was like hitting the pizza I wish there was then. I sure would have it preferred to a frozen DiGiorno or Little Caesar.)

Pizza costs between $ 12 and $ 15 and can be purchased using a debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Android, and Samsung Pay.
