DENVER (CBS4) – According to the Denver Police Department, at least one of their officers was involved in a shooting Wednesday night. The officers responded to a report of a sting near Yale Avenue and Federal Boulevard.
Police say the suspect had wounds that appear to have been self-inflicted. Officers came and told the man to drop the knife.

Officials say the suspect ignored orders and approached officers with a knife. A pepper ball and taser were both used, but not effective.
The suspect continued to approach officers when at least one officer fired his weapon several times and hit the suspect.

The suspect fell and was rushed to hospital in critical condition. DPD says no officers or civilians were injured.
The police do not believe the suspect was known to the officers.

Federal Boulevard is closed in both directions on Harvard Avenue. Drivers and residents are encouraged to avoid the area.
