He’s one of the brightest stars on the thriving Irish country music scene, but this year fans have learned more than ever about Mike Denver’s life offstage.
Earlier this year, shortly after the couple’s longed-for first child arrived, Mia, Mike, and wife Liz invited RSVP to a family photo shoot at their home.
The shoot gave fans a glimpse into Mike’s cozy home, which is traditionally designed with a neutral color palette, antique furniture, timeless paneling and classy chandeliers.
While modern details in the form of a modern kitchen, an American-style refrigerator and a trendy runner carpet on the stairs can be found throughout the room.
Mike’s beloved dog snoopy, who recently passed away, can also be seen in the family shoot. Snoopy had been a member of the Denver clan for over 13 years and Mike shared the sad news on Twitter, writing:
“Snoopy passed away on Sunday November 22nd. We miss him more than I can say. He was the most loyal dog and my best buddy. For a small dog, he was a big part of our family. “
Mike and Liz made no secret of the fact that becoming parents has been a long road for them. Baby Mia was born under strict lockdown restrictions and an emergency caesarean section in March. The time meant the Galway singer unfortunately missed her birth.
Mike said, “It is a very difficult time for new parents and hospital staff and you need to take off your hats from all medical professionals and hospital staff to show compassion and professionalism.
“It was daunting not to be there to see the birth, but it’s also hard for mothers who have separated from their partners because of the new safety measures. Mia is in intensive care, which means we can see her, but unfortunately Liz and I can’t be with her at the same time – we have to take turns to see her. “
Liz added, “We’d waited so long for her that I wanted Mike to be there and have this moment.
“There was a complication late at night and there was no other option than an emergency room. Within 10 or 15 minutes my advisor was in the room with me and I was in the theater a few minutes later. It all happened quickly.
“I could have dealt with Mike there because I was scared and I wanted to make sure she was okay. I was also scared for myself because I didn’t know what was going on.
“They let me see her for a second, but I wasn’t allowed to touch her and while they were rolling her out, they met Mike in the corridor.
Mike continued, “It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I’m old-fashioned as a man in some ways, so it was very hard to hold back tears the first time I saw Baby Mia.
“My heart skips every time I touch her or even when I stand outside and look at her.”
“The women of this world deserve to be placed on a pedestal for life for what they do for us men. I believe there is no man who would go through what they endure during pregnancy and childbirth.”
