A fan of Denver for more than 20 years now, he now plays John Denver’s music on the tribute shows. “We’re traveling through Australia again to honor its life and its music so people can identify and hear,” said Gardiner. “We have a band of musicians and we perform all of his songs live while there is a big screen behind us with audiovisual images of Denver. “He talks about the ups and downs of his life and tells the audience the inspiration for his songs. It’s like Denver on stage while we perform its songs. ”On his first visit to Mount Isa, Mr. Gardiner said the tribute group looks forward to going to other parts of Australia and places where they can they have never been before. “Mount Isa is the penultimate stop on our tour and we wanted to branch out into other areas to see how their reaction is to the performance,” he said. “I think some people look at the title and think it’s just another tribute show, well, it’s more than that. The performance has a documentary feel to it and the people who came and saw the show were taken on an emotional roller coaster ride that experienced Denver’s journey. “Everyone is very moved. I’ve had people come up to me and say, “We had that song at our wedding,” or it took me back in time and people felt excited and that’s rewarding for us. “It’s more than just a tribute concert and we encourage the locals of Mount Isa to experience this journey and performance of John Denver’s life.” Tickets for Take Me Home – The Music & Life of John Denver are available until April 5th.
